Maki

Hi, my name is Maki.

I am an experienced and WJLC certified Japanese teacher. I have been teaching here in Canberra for two years. I have taught about 30 students (private and class), from beginners to advanced, 7 years old to over 70.

I know how exciting but difficult to learn foreign languages because I have been learning English for my entire life. I can understand how you feel and am able to lead you gently or quickly. I am interested in global cultures, histories, and foods. I want to share with you those of Australian and Japanese origin.

My lesson style is flexible, according to your preference. I use “Minna no Nihongo “as a textbook. I teach you grammar, vocabularies, and useful phrases in conversations. I do free talk during the lessons, so you won’t be too tired.

Both face to face and online options are available. I live in North Canberra.

I’m looking forward to seeing you!

Linh

About myself:

My name is Linh and I was born in Ha Noi, Viet Nam.

I graduated from university in Japan in 2019, the same year I took and passed JLPT N2. I then spent over 2 years working in a large Japanese company as one of the only 5 foreign employees. In total, I had lived in Japan for almost 7 years.

Upon returning to my home country of Viet Nam in 2022, I worked briefly as a freelance Japanese-Vietnamese translator before deciding on a change of careers that led me to Australia. I am currently a Master’s student in Canberra and loving it!

About my teaching style:

As someone who was once new to Japanese, I understand your struggles! I am patient and willing to adapt to your learning style and goals. As a side note, I love Japanese music and would be happy to incorporate songs into our lessons!

I can also teach using English and/or Vietnamese.

I welcome students of all ages, and offer the following specialties:

  • Beginner Japanese

  • Daily conversational Japanese

  • Japanese business manners & business communication (verbal/written) – great for adults who work with Japanese partners & clients, or students interested in living and working in Japan in the future!

Hours & Location:

I am available for online lessons and have a flexible schedule.

Depending on timing and location, face-to-face lessons can also be arranged.

I am also available for consultation regarding Business Japanese as well as interpretation & translation projects.
